Things are Changing at Fife Chamber

Last year we saw significant changes at Fife Chamber – many staff changes have resulted in the present enthusiastic and hard working group and I am convinced that our new team will work tirelessly to ensure Fife Chamber meets your expectations throughout the year.

We also applied to become an accredited member of the British Chambers of Commerce and this was confirmed in November 2007.  As well as being given the seal of approval from our national body, being a member of BCC gives us the opportunity to provide you, our members with a wide range of valuable services, as featured in the first edition of this newsletter.

We also produced our ‘Manifesto for Business’ which outlined the key issues and policies on which we have been lobbying on your behalf.  This is in the process of being updated and we would invite all of our members to let us know about the issues you would like to see Fife Chamber take up on your behalf.  We have regular meetings with Politicians at all levels and have a quarterly Politicians Forum where we meet with MP’s, MSP’s and MEP’s and we are in a regular dialogue with the leaders of Fife Council – all of this work is to raise important business issues and to influence change within the main government agencies responsible for making decisions which affect business.  Directors of the Chamber and our Premier partners are key players in these discussions, acting on behalf of the wider membership.

We are also changing the range and nature of the events we organise on your behalf.  Whilst the regular monthly networking meetings will continue, as requested by many members, we are also introducing new events as we go forward – these will include Showcase, speed networking, business seminars and mini conferences on major issues.  Obviously these are member events and we hope you will let us know what type of events you would wish to see happen so that we can keep our programme fresh.

Of most importance to us is what you think and we hope you will give us your feedback on this newsletter and keep feeding us with articles for future editions.  A big thank you to all of those who have supplied articles for this issue – keep them coming.  If any member wishes to talk to either Claire or myself about Chamber activities please give us a call and we will happily meet with you.
