FIFTY
THOUSAND REASONS TO ENTER THE CHAMBER AWARDS 2008
The British
Chambers of Commerce (BCC) is encouraging UK businesses to enter
this year’s Chamber Awards, for the chance to win £50,000 courtesy of
the RBS Group. Now in its fifth year, the Chamber Awards 2008 sets
out to identify outstanding business achievement within the UK
business community.
There are
eight different categories of Awards and companies can enter as
many as they wish. The categories comprise;
- Most
Promising New Business
- Award
for Innovation Through Technology
- The
Green Award
- Entrepreneur
of The Year
- Achievement
in International Business
- Award
for Excellence in People Development
- Business
of the Year
- Award
for Excellence in Customer service (NEW)
The top
prize of £50,000 (donated by the RBS Group) will be awarded to the
company that the judges agree should win the overall Award for
Outstanding Business Achievement and will be announced along with
the national winners at the Gala Dinner and Award Ceremony on 27th
November 2008 at the Natural History Museum in London.
Last year this was won by Tyrrells Potato
Chips Ltd. The judges remarked on the way the company approached
the green issue in such an ambitious way. They introduced reed beds for
waste water and extensive recycling and energy reduction measures,
and have provided nesting for wildlife. Tyrrells has its own production of
organic potatoes and rapeseed oil, thus reducing its transport
needs.
Steve
Pateman, Chief Executive of RBS and NatWest Business Banking,
commented “Together,
NatWest and RBS look after more small businesses than any other UK
bank, and are proud to be at
the forefront of supporting growing and entrepreneurial businesses
in this way. The Chamber
Awards are a great way of rewarding the drive, innovation and
success of businesses and we are delighted to be in a position to
support the Awards, which offer businesses across Britain the chance to
be recognized on a regional and national level.”
Alan
Russell, Chief Executive of the Fife Chamber, added: “I am proud of
the Chamber Awards as they provide an opportunity to recognise and
celebrate the success of businesses in the local area. There are a lot of unsung
business heroes and we are keen to give them the honours that they
deserve.”
The Chamber
Awards will be judged in two stages at both a regional and national
level. The closing date for entries is 27th June 2008.
Those businesses that enter by May 30th 2008 will be
entered in a draw to receive a £200 voucher from a selection of
high street retailers.
Entry forms
and judging criteria can be obtained by visiting www.chamberawards.co.uk.
All entry forms must be completed and submitted electronically.
The Awards
are open to all businesses.
