International trade

Through our Business Gateway partnership arrangements we can provide a wide range of expertise and support to help you access international markets. Fife Chamber of Commerce delivers first class certification services from our premises at Wemyssfield, Kirkcaldy. Certificates of Origin, EUR1 and ATR movement certificates can be obtained from and certified by a member of the Certification team as well as other documents such as invoices.

Certificates of Origin can now be completed and returned on-line using ecert eXpress reducing the application time to a few minutes for the exporter. It is now easier and quicker for UK exporters to obtain the origin certificate they need to comply with customs requirements.

Until now, whilst exporters could apply online for Certificates of Origin, the documents still had to be physically stamped and therefore posted back to, couriered or collected by the exporter. With e-Cert eXpress, officially stamped Certificates of Origin are sent back to the exporter electronically, a process which can be completed in minutes and hours rather than days.

In 2004, £80 billion of business was carried out outside the EU and almost 500,000 EC and Arab Certificates of Origin were issued. e-Cert eXpress is the next step in our aim of making the production of export documentation a completely paperless process. Not only are there benefits to British exporters in terms of speed, simplicity and ease-of-use, there are also benefits to their customers through greater efficiency, better responsiveness and improved customer care.

EC Certificates of Origin are required for goods being exported from the United Kingdom and are essential for exporting companies to comply with customs requirements in the importing state, as well as meeting banking and other commercial criteria.
