Award is an Accountancy First!

Dunfermline accountancy firm Thomson Cooper is delighted to have achieved the Bronze Award in the Healthy Working Lives programme - the first accountancy firm in Fife, and indeed Scotland, to attain this challenging accolade.

A successful initiative to supply fresh fruit in the office prompted the firm to sign up to the programme, run by the Scottish Centre for Healthy Working Lives (www.healthyworkinglives.com).

Following a confidential staff survey, a working group was set up to promote the aims of Healthy Working Lives and to explore the suggestions that were raised from the survey.

This has led to campaigns on healthy eating and an active lifestyle, including walking and running groups and the firm's support in taking part in future events such as the Edinburgh Marathon.

While everybody at Thomson Cooper is delighted to have won the award, Healthy Working Lives is seen very much as an ongoing vehicle to promote the health and wellbeing of everyone within the Thomson Cooper team.

Partner David Walker commented, "We are delighted to be part of the Healthy Working Lives success story. Everyone has shown real enthusiasm for the programme. The lunchtime walking club has been perfect for getting a break from sitting behind a desk all day and I'm very proud to see our staff getting involved in various sporting challenges."
