Livingston furniture supplier matches green demands
Kinnarps - the workplace furniture experts with a showroom in Livingston - have recently completed the design and installation of the interior furnishings in one of Europe's Greenest Buildings, in Switzerland.
IUCN - the International Union for Conservation of Nature - has pledged to use its new, state-of-the-art Conservation Centre to challenge the global business community into raising its game when it comes to the eco-credentials of its office buildings. They aim to achieve LEED platinum certification for the building, which will make it one the greenest office buildings in Europe, if not the world.
With as much as 30%-40% of all carbon emissions being accounted for by the construction and running of buildings, the design, choice of materials and the ongoing management of the IUCN's Conservation Centre were all critical elements in creating this new influential building.
The interior has been space-planned and furnished by Kinnarps. The company was chosen as a partner on the project thanks to a supply chain that aims to minimise environmental impact at every stage.
Katie Littlefair, Kinnarps local business executive in Livingston, says "This is a fantastic endorsement of our green credentials and gives us a great international case study to promote our ability to match local organisations' desire to be more sustainable and improve their CSR through careful furniture specification".
