Do you support Fair Trade?
Is yours a Fairtrade workplace? If so, Fife Fair Trade Forum would love to hear from you. The Forum hopes to apply to the Fairtrade Foundation in London later this year to be granted "Fairtrade County" status for the Kingdom. In order to do this, certain criteria must be met.
One stipulation is that there should be a good representation of Fairtrade Workplaces or businesses in Fife. To be a Fairtrade Workplace, you should
• Support the aims of Fair Trade (see www.fairtrade.org.uk for more details)
• Use Fairtrade products whenever possible
This would mean for instance using Fairtrade tea, coffee and sugar at meetings, and making Fairtrade refreshments available for staff tea breaks - but not necessarily to the exclusion of non-Fairtrade brands.
That's all! You do not have to register with the Fairtrade Foundation - simply tell us, and we will add your details to our database. The FFTF would like to compile a list of Fairtrade Workplaces in Fife, which could be promoted and publicised where appropriate in the future. We need to know about as many Fairtrade Workplaces as possible - so please contact the secretary of Fife Fair Trade Forum if you think you qualify, Marie Robinson, secretary@fairtrade-standrews.org.uk.
