Stop in the name of ‘Love Maggie’s Day’!

Maggie's Cancer Caring Centres are introducing a new event to their fundraising and awareness calendar - Love Maggie's Day. The day will be celebrated in each region where Maggie's has a presence, with Maggie's Fife intending to pull out all the stops for their celebrations.

Past, present and future fundraisers are being encouraged to do something they love, or something for someone they love on the day, or in the lead up to the day, which takes place on March 26th, just before the clocks go forward. Famous names who have signed up to do something they love on the day, include Kirsty Wark, Sarah Brown and Janet Ellis.

Ruth McCabe, Maggie's Fife Centre Head, said: "Maggie's Fife brings great solace and hope to the people of Fife and their families who are facing the devastating consequences of cancer. It is important for Maggie's as an organisation to highlight what we do, who we help, and how important it is to raise money for our Centres. Love Maggie's Day is the perfect opportunity to do that.

"We will be throwing open our doors to the public, inviting all in to see our stunning Centre and hear about all that we do. Pop along, have a cup of tea and witness firsthand the warmth, positivity and hopefulness that the Centre brings to your community. The kettle will be on all day and feel free to join in with the Centre hug at noon!"

Maggie's varied programme of support for people with cancer, their friends and families, relies solely on public funding. Maggie's Fife Centre received over 6000 visits in 2009. It costs an average of £350,000 per year to run a Maggie's Centre.
