Charity Strikes It Lucky!
Staff at local accountancy firm Thomson Cooper were bowled over by the success of their recent ‘Battle of the Balls' charity bowling competition, raising over £4,000 for The Mary Leishman Foundation. Over 135 participants from 20 local businesses gathered at the Bowlplex in Dunfermline on Thursday 21st January to compete to become the local ‘Strike Supremo'. The Best Individual winner was Anthony Bruce from Shred-IT, with Scott Bennett Associates scooping the Best Team Performance.
The Mary Leishman Foundation was set up last year by Jim Leishman and his friends in memory of Jim's wife Mary who died of cancer in February 2009. It aims to raise money in order to give funds back to the local area where they are needed most.
The Totally Tropical themed event, aimed at beating the January Blues, certainly brought a smile to everyone's faces. The stash of goodies in the auction and raffle that followed the bowling included gems like a signed Bobby Robson shirt and original art by local artists.
Managing Partner, Alan Thomson, was delighted with the response to the event, "The support we have received from the local business community, both in terms of submitting teams and donating prizes, has been tremendous and we send them our sincerest thanks. The whole evening was highly entertaining and we hope everyone enjoyed themselves whilst raising money for The Mary Leishman Foundation.
