Perth 800 Race Day - Saturday 21st August
On the back of winning the ‘best racecourse award' for Scotland and the North of England your local racecourse was granted a new fixture to celebrate the granting of the Royal Charter to Perth in 1210. This celebration will take place on Saturday August 21st and is promising to be one
of the biggest Perth 800 celebrations with a tremendous day in prospect.
Sam Morshead, the General manager told the Chamber this week "Bookings for this celebration started as early as January and we now look like having a very big crowd. The celebrations themselves are going to be great fun; we will have a Jousting Tournament from 1pm. King William the Lion and his Queen will be arriving by Coach after the jousting and this will be followed by a re-enactment of the presentation of the Royal Charter to the Provost of Perth & Kinross. Once this ceremony has taken place the King's Jester will take over.
Following the racing itself we will run straight into a music evening with a Bon Jovi tribute band. It promises to be a fantastic days entertainment"
If you have not been to Perth races before this is a great opportunity to enjoy a day out in the picturesque setting of Scone Palace and the unique atmosphere that is now proving such a draw. Go to the Perth racecourse website www.perth-races.co.uk or telephone the Racecourse
