Corporate Social Responsibility in Action
The Ecology Centre, a community-based charity, has been looking at innovative ways to tie in with the local business community in Fife to help deliver CRS targets in a tough economic climate.
The Centre, which runs an award winning Environmental Education and successful Volunteer Programme with a focus on young people, the disabled and disadvantaged has already worked on some great environmental projects with ExxonMobil, BSkyB and Kingdom Housing Association.
Douglas Maxwell, Operations Manager at The Ecology Centre commented "Increasingly we find that businesses are looking for ways to support community initiatives, manage climate change, meet CSR goals, motivate and develop staff and meet business objectives. We are ideally placed to work with local business to help them achieve this"
For the past 8 years the Centre has delivered educational pond dipping sessions in and around the grounds of the Fife Ethylene Plant (FEP) which is funded and supported by ExxonMobil. Over 1000 children from local primary schools have experienced nature first hand through these classes.
BSkyB and HBOS have also benefited from unique staff team building days at The Ecology Centre working on worthwhile environmental projects.
All the partnership opportunities offered by The Ecology Centre demonstrate company values in action and provide businesses access to the local community and further PR opportunities.
