Fife College Welcomes the Launch of a New Education Innovation Hub

Fife College has recently launched a new Education Innovation Hub, under the Fujitsu Education Ambassador Programme, supported by Intel, Brocade and Kyocera.

The launch took place on Thursday 22^nd September 2016 at Fife College’s Stenton Campus in Glenrothes. This follows the announcement at The Bett Show 2016 of the growth of the Ambassador Programme and promotes Fife College as the latest educational institution to open its Innovation Hub in the second phase of the programme.

The event started with the official ribbon cutting by Principal of Fife College, Hugh Logan and Director of Education at Fujitsu, Ash Merchant, followed by an inspiring speech detailing how the College plans to use the Hub to enhance the student learning experience. Lunch was then served by support for learning students from the College.

The Innovation Hub will form the central piece of an ongoing partnership between Fife College, Fujitsu, Intel, Brocade and Kyocera. It will be equipped with a range of the latest computing technology, and will be used to promote the use of technology and development of digital skills.

Fife College is committed to transforming the way students and staff work together. The main objectives of the Innovation Hub for the College are to: blend technology with learning, develop staff skills and develop school-college partnership activity.

Hugh is excited about the Innovation Hub and looks forward to seeing both students and staff taking full advantage of the facilities. Said Hugh: “The project is intended to help to transform learning and teaching at Fife College by supporting both students and staff to use the latest developments in digital learning technology. I am thrilled to see both students and staff enjoying this new facility within the College and I am sure they will see the benefit of it.”

Educational institutions like Fife College will play a crucial role in making this happen – and Fujitsu, supported by our partners, Intel, Brocade and Kyocera, is committed to supporting them in bringing their vision to life.”

The Ambassador Programme is a national engagement initiative led by the four global IT leaders that aims to highlight the use of computing power to underpin knowledge in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) subjects and drive forward innovation and digital skills development at Fife College as well as its wider community.
