SUMMARY:Strategic Defence Review Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an insightful webinar with Major General Robin Lind
say CBE as he explores the latest Strategic Defence Review and what it mea
ns for Scotland. With the recent launch of the £50 million Scottish Defen
ce Growth Deal\, this session will highlight the emerging opportunities fo
r Scottish businesses to engage with the defence sector as part of a whole
-of-society approach.\n\nDiscover how Chambers and their members can work
in partnership with Defence to drive growth\, innovation\, and long-term e
conomic benefit across Scotland.\n\nAlongside Major General Robin Lindsay
CBE\, joining us for the Q and A session\, the call will feature Scotland
’s three most senior military officers - Brigadier Andy Muddiman ADC\, B
rigadier Jody Davies MBE and Air Commodore Mark Northover MBE\, giving att
endees the chance to engage with them and ask questions directly.\n \n\nA
bout the Strategic Defence Review: We are in a new era of threat\, which d
emands a new era for UK Defence. The Strategic Defence Review will make Br
itain safer - secure at home and strong abroad. It signifies a landmark sh
ift in our deterrence and defence: moving to warfighting readiness to dete
r threats and strengthen security in the Euro-Atlantic. As the UK steps up
to take on more responsibility for European security\, we must have a ‘
NATO first’ defence policy and lead within the Alliance. The UK will bec
ome the leading edge of innovation in NATO.\n\nThe SDR sets a path for the
next decade and beyond to transform Defence. It will end the hollowing ou
t of the UK’s Armed Forces and lead in a stronger\, more lethal NATO. As
we reform Defence and increase defence spending to 2.5% of GDP by 2027 an
d 3% in the next Parliament when fiscal and economic conditions allow\, th
e SDR will help make defence an engine for growth boosting prosperity\, jo
bs and security for working people across the UK.\n\nAbout Major General R
