Auto enrolment – Are you ready? Don't delay...

Recent data from The Pensions Regulator in relation to Auto Enrolment non-compliance penalties should serve as a reminder to those employers who have not yet taken the required steps to choose and implement an appropriate scheme in time for their staging dates.

In the 6 months to 1 May 2015, a total of 367 penalties were levied on employers who failed to comply with their auto enrolment obligations, a huge increase from the 3 penalties levied in the previous 6 months.

This period has also seen the first of the “escalating” penalties being applied for non-compliance with auto enrolment (for failing to comply with a statutory notice), ranging from £50 per day to £10,000 per day (for those with larger workforces).
