Stagecoach East Scotland have launched a new coach link between Fife and Glasgow Airport

19th August 2016

Route X24 has been extended to operate hourly between St Andrews, Cupar, Glenrothes, Halbeath Park & Ride, Dunfermline, Kincardine, Glasgow city centre, Braehead Shopping Centre and Glasgow Airport.

The route is operated by luxury coaches, which feature reclining seats, air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi access, power sockets and a toilet on board. The coaches also have large luggage lockers designed for plenty of suitcases. One of the coaches for the route has been rebranded as 'Express JET Connect' to be easily recognisable on the road and more coaches will be rebranded in the coming months.

Andrew Jarvis, Managing Director, Stagecoach East Scotland said: "We're excited to be launching a new route to Glasgow Airport, providing a direct public transport link for business and leisure travellers, straight to the terminal! Our Express City Connect routes to Glasgow are very popular and we've seen demand for other locations we can reach via a direct route from the East of Scotland.

"The Express JET Connect route provides a great value travel option to reach the airport. Our period return tickets are valid for up to 28 days so there's no need to worry about airport parking, customers can just jump on the coach to start their holiday. The launch of the Express service to Glasgow Airport will offer a regular and reliable route to the airport, so people can relax and get their holiday off to the best start!"

Journeys from Fife to Glasgow Airport run from 0348 every day, until the last journey returns from the airport at 2235.

Stagecoach East Scotland already operate a successful JET747 route from the East of Scotland to Edinburgh Airport and have recently increased the frequency of the route to run 24/7.

Mr Jarvis added: "Use of our JET747 route to Edinburgh Airport continues to increase so we know we can offer a top quality service for thousands of travellers. We recently increased the frequency of the JET747 and it now operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We hope this encourages more travellers to use the service and make life easier for those on an early flight, a delayed arrival or working at the Airport."

The JET747 service provides a direct link from Fife to Edinburgh Airport up to every 30 minutes, departing from Halbeath Park & Ride, Inverkeithing rail station, Ferrytoll Park and Ride and Edinburgh Airport.

Three newly branded Optare Versa vehicles were added to the route at the beginning of the summer and feature free Wi-Fi, air conditioning luggage racks and luxury leather seats, making the trip to the airport more enjoyable, whether it’s for business or leisure.

To coincide with the increased frequency of the JET747 service, Halbeath and Ferrytoll Park & Ride car parks will be open 24/7.

Timetables for the new Express JET Connect route as well as the JET 747 route are available to download at stagecoachbus.com and customers can also use the online journey planner and live bus times to track their journey.

Stagecoach also made a number of changes to the network from 15 August which are designed to offer the widest bus network possible for as many people with the finite resources available. The recent changes ensure there are a range of quality bus and coach links to both Halbeath and Ferrytoll Park & Ride sites to connect services across the East of Scotland.
