BID St Andrews’ has appointed its BID Manager to what she describes as her “dream job.”
Rhonda McCrimmon (36) started her new role yesterday and will be responsible to the BID St Andrews Board and levy-payers for both the day-to-day management of the BID as well as the smooth running of its strategic projects.
The first key appointment by BID St Andrews since the elected Board took over in January, Rhonda will work together with the Board and other town agencies to deliver the projects and services set out in the BID Business Plan as well as be the main point of contact.
Her duties will also include measuring and reporting on key performance indicators, proposing revisions to the Business Plan, applying for grants and other funding, managing BID’s marketing and events and running its website and social media.
Rhonda, who grew up in Methil and has lived most of her life in Fife, brings to the role a strong background in financial and event management - having worked as an accountant with Fife companies Carters Accountants, Craig & Rose and SRUC Elmwood before spending four years as a financial accountant on capital projects at the University of St Andrews, where her manager was BID Board member Pat Jones. In her last job Rhonda worked closely with the Financial Director at Vascular Flow Technologies in Dundee on both strategic and operational levels.
Outside work, Rhonda has experience organising events for Fife voluntary organisations and charities.
Speaking about her appointment, Rhonda says: “This is my dream job because I have a passion for connecting people and organisations to achieve their mutual goals. Combined with my experience in finance and knowledge of accounting and business practices, the broad perspective required for this role is one I will relish using.
“I understand the needs of businesses and I love hearing what business owners and managers say about the economic landscape they’re operating in and working out how best to help them get the most out of it.
“I enjoy thinking ‘outside the box’ to discover creative solutions as well as communicating with a wide variety of people and agencies, so the ambassadorial part of the role is one of the reasons I applied for the job.
“I’m delighted to be working in such a superb location with great businesses and assets and look forward to working in partnership to ensure the continued growth of St Andrews as a top destination in Scotland.
“I’m greatly anticipating delivering the projects listed in the Business Plan, particularly the Burns-related events and driving the waste management plan to help St Andrews become a better place for locals, visitors and people working in it as a result.”
BID Chairman, Alistair Lang, says: “The Board was hugely impressed by Rhonda’s deep understanding and experience of running and administering businesses in multiple sectors, attention to detail and her passion for delivering projects which make a difference to people’s everyday lives and businesses. She’s also a huge fan of the town.
“Rhonda’s a very outgoing, friendly person and those strong communication skills combined with her professional abilities and experience have given the Board enormous confidence in her ability to be a great ambassador for BID St Andrews.
“Rhonda is ideally suited to listen to the needs of levy-payers and other stakeholders, advise the Board on how we can best help her deliver the Business Plan and any new needs her conversations have identified. The Board and I are very much looking forward to working with her.”
