Celebrating Fife Business at 2016 Fife Chamber Annual Dinner
Tuesday, 4 October 2016
Business and community leaders from across the Kingdom came together and enjoyed an evening of hospitality and entertainment last Friday at the 2016 Fife Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner.
Held at the Fairmont Hotel in St Andrews, almost 200 guests attended to celebrate the diversity and success of Fife’s businesses, whilst supporting the Chamber’s two chosen beneficiary charities, the Bethany Christian Trust and Maggie’s Fife, through generous prize-draw donations.
Fife Chamber President Peter Southcott provided the welcome address and offered a special tribute to Bob Garmory from the Purvis Group as he presented him with the Alan Russell Award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the Fife economy. The annual award was introduced in 2013 in tribute to the late Fife Chamber chief executive.
The Chamber welcomed Oil & Gas UK CEO Deirdre Michie as keynote speaker. With extensive global experience in delivering strategic solutions, she gave guests a high-level insight into the current outlook and future prospects for the industry.
After dinner, guests were treated to anecdotes from former Scottish football referee Willie Young, who provided a host of entertaining stories from his 15 seasons, and over 500 Scottish senior matches, as a Class One SFA official.
Dr Peter Hughes, former chief executive of Scottish Engineering, took up the role of Master of Ceremonies.
Fife Chamber President Peter Southcott said: “This was a fantastic event that really showcased what Fife Chamber is capable of when its members share a common goal and come together and work collectively to achieve it.
“I’d like to extend my sincerest thanks to everyone involved, with special thanks to our event sponsors and those who donated the fantastic prizes for our charity prize draw.”
Fife Chamber contributes positively to Fife by representing its members’ interests, engaging with civic and community partners, debating the key issues of the day and lobbying locally and nationally to address business concerns.
