Trustees – Fife Society for the Blind

10th November 2017

Fife Society for the Blind (‘FSB’) was established over 150 years ago and has supported generations of Fifers with sight loss. The Society is deeply embedded in the history, culture and life of Fife and today we continue to help generations of people who are sight impaired to enjoy independence in all areas of their lives.

As an independent charity regulated by OSCR, we offer a range of services to our clients from advice to practical help delivered on a one-to-one basis. We operate Scotland’s first charity optician service, The Optician, which is open both to our clients and the public.

FSB also works in partnership with Fife Council and NHS Fife to deliver services and is responsible for maintaining the Severely Sight Impaired and Sight Impaired Register on behalf of the local authority.

FSB is now looking to recruit Trustees to strengthen membership of the Board at an exciting time as we seek to develop what we offer and respond to growing numbers of potential clients.

We are particularly interested in hearing from people with relevant knowledge and skills including business acumen, IT, eye health, legal, financial and HR. However, your interest and enthusiasm are just as important to us in helping to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, both local and national.

There are between 6 to 8 Board meetings per annum, which take up half a day, with other ad hoc meetings as required.

If you believe you have the qualities and experience we are looking for to take this important organisation forward, you should write telling us why, including a CV, to: Sheila Rogers at [email protected]
