New Home for Fife Free Press

1st February 2018

The Fife Free Press said farewell to Kirk Wynd last week - and hello to Carlyle House.

The move may only have been a few hundred yards up the road, but it was a landmark day for the newspaper after 50 years at Kirk Wynd which was the head office of Strachan & Livingston.

The move was marked by a special edition of the Press last week which was dedicated to all staff who worked at Kirk Wynd, many of them for 35-40 years or more.

It featured archive pictures and a roll call of employees which ran to over 200 names.

The move uncovered boxes of old pictures and negatives which are now being archived, together with many documents relating to the history of strachan and Livingston.

The new office at Carlyle House already feels like home, and the newsroom is taking shape with the walls feature framed front pages from across the decades.

We also have a small showcase of memorabilia which includes the original masthead from the Kirkcaldy Times , display together with camera lenses through the years, a copy of the Poems of Fife produced by the Fife Leader and re-printed many times to meet demand, as well as clutch of awards won by the Press and individual reporters.

2018 will also see changes to the Press as we look at improving some areas of the paper, including a more prominent and expanded business news section.

The door to our new office is always open, and we offer a welcome to all who want to drop-in to say hello or discuss a story.
