Creative EDGE returns to target applicants from the Creative Industries

Scottish EDGE, Scotland’s leading competition to identify and support the nation’s most promising entrepreneurial talent, has once again joined forces with Creative Scotland to encourage applications from the creative sector via the Creative EDGE special award.

The Creative EDGE Award is a prize of up to £100,000 – 60% loan and 40% grant – which will be presented to the top creative business idea to enter in round 13 of the Scottish EDGE competition.

The introduction of Creative EDGE in Round 11 resulted in a 145% increase in Creative Industry applications and it was the second highest sector represented at the application stage in both Rounds 11 and 12. Curious Chip, the creator of a handheld computer device that teaches code to anyone aged 8 and upwards, emerged ahead of strong competition as the Round 12 Creative EDGE winner, securing £50,000 in grant and loan funding in the process.

Scottish EDGE launched Round 13 on 4th July, with the application window closing at 2 pm on 5th September and the final planned for 6th December - with winners announced at the Awards Ceremony in the evening, where up to £1 million in grant and loan funding will be awarded to around twenty five Scottish startups. Scottish EDGE itself is supported by the Royal Bank of Scotland, The Hunter Foundation and the Scottish Government.

Numerous workshops have been organised for those working in all sectors interested in learning more about the Scottish EDGE competition and the application process.
