Bill Main receives the Alan Russell Award at Annual Dinner

2nd October 2018

The Alan Russell Award is given by Fife Chamber in recognition of former Chief executive Alan Russell. It is presented to an individual who the board believes has had a significant long-term contribution to the Fife Economy or to the broader civic community or to Fife Chamber. This year's recipient Bill Main fulfilled all three of these criteria.

Bill only retired from the Chamber Board in 2017 after many years of service as Treasurer, Vice-President and President and was overwhelmingly acknowledged by the Board to receive the award.

Speaking at the Annual Dinner current Fife Chamber President Peter Southcott said "Bill has worked so relentlessly representing not only Fife Chamber on the public stage but also spent many more hours behind the scenes which was never widely recognised. He continued his civic duty as Treasurer and President of the New Club Kirkcaldy as well as chairman of the Abbeyfield Society, Kirkcaldy - a charitable care home for the elderly. If that wasn't enough Bill also co-founded Brown, Scott & Main Chartered Accountancy firm in 1983 which demonstrates his long-term contribution to Fife."

On receiving the award at the Annual Dinner Bill said "I am truly shocked and surprised to receive this from the board. It is a real honour and I would like to thank them very much."
