Ready for the challenge

So, for those of you who haven't met me yet, I’m Lynda Collins and I started working at Fife Chamber four months ago. I have met a lot of you already – thanks for being so kind and helpful – and I am looking forward to meeting many more of you in the future. I am really enjoying Fife Chamber but ever since I started one thing has filled me with an equal measure of excitement and nervousness: taking over the reins for managing the event programme. And now that Kelly has started her maternity leave, the moment is here.

I was nervous because I have big shoes to fill - Kelly knows how to put on a great event – and because I know how important our events are to our members. It is why most businesses join the Chamber. I know how busy you are and that there are lots of others things that you could be doing when you choose to give your precious time to us. So the pressure is on to make sure that you get a positive experience at our events.

I was excited because I soon realised that Fife Chamber doesn’t do ‘average’ or ‘same-old, same-old’. Kelly and Alan were always exploring new ideas and experimenting with different types of events or formats or speakers. Even when an event went really well, after they had patted themselves on the back, they asked “can we do it better next time?”. Not all their new ideas or experiments worked but it didn’t stop them trying again. I am really looking forward to working in this creative and inventive environment, where no two events are exactly the same.

I am also looking forward to getting your input. If you have an idea for a Chamber event, you know about a company that would be a great subject for a Master Class, if you have heard a fantastic speaker that you think other Chamber members would enjoy hearing or you want to host a Fife Social or other event, please get in touch with me and tell me about it.

It is going to be hard work creating, planning and delivering between 40 and 50 top-quality events to in the next year. But it is going to be great fun and I am 100% up for the challenge.
