Career Ready & Fife - working together in partnership

10th April 2019

Career Ready has successful partnered with Fife Council since 2014, the fourth local authority area in Scotland to be supported by Diageo as the lead employer partner. Their partnership has enabled over 200 young people from across Fife to develop the skills, confidence and experience needed to kickstart rewarding futures.

Working with Career Ready enables Fife Council to add another dimension to the career support provided by their Education and Children's Services Directorate.

Phil Black, Head of Education for Fife Council said “Fife Council enjoys a very positive and productive relationship with Career Ready. Fundamentally, we are both committed to positive outcomes for all our young people.”

The partnership is based on a close working relationship between Career Ready and the Local Authority Coordinator (which also includes DYW Manager). They meet regularly, along with school coordinators to agree on the priorities.

Working together has made a significant difference to the lives of young people across Fife and ensured that they are able to transition into further education, apprenticeships or employment.

Carrie Lindsey, Executive Director of Education and Children’s Services, Fife Council also went on to say “Fife secondary schools are recognising the benefits of The Career Ready programme for large numbers of our young people and almost all schools are now participating. I myself have begun this year as a mentor and I’m learning as much from my student about our secondary schools as she is learning from me about the workplace. The programme is well supported, evidence based, and delivers success, as many of my Fife Council colleagues are also finding out.”
