British Chamber workforce survey results are in

17th June 2019

Fife Chamber’s current Fife Learn programme is focusing on Developing Talent, and the 2019 British Chambers of Commerce Workforce Survey has thrown up some fascinating insights into the challenges that employers face getting and keeping the staff they need and some of the strategies they are adopting to confront this challenge.

What is clear is that an increasing number of employers are offering flexible working arrangements or a working from home option to attract, recruit and retain staff. And in many cases, the pace and direction of change is being driven by their employees. Nearly half the firms who responded to the survey reporting that they have seen demand from their employees for flexible working grow in the last two years.

Another finding from the survey that mirrors what we hear when we are talk with members is that it is taking longer to recruit people, especially for skilled roles, where the demand for talent is highest. That is leading to an ever increasing array of policies and benefits being introduced by businesses who want to be an ‘employer of choice’ in their region or sector.
