All-female led Fife based technology firm learning and leading during lockdown and beyond

28th May 2020

In early march when COVID-19 started to really impact business in Scotland, eCom Scotland, a Fife based leader in online learning and assessment was quick to react with their business continuity plans, usually kept for emergency situations such as ‘The Beast from the East’.

Over 90% of the eCom team switched to working from home prior to lockdown, with little to no impact on the support provided to the organisation’s international clients. The remainder of the team followed suit as lockdown was announced.

Despite being experienced at delivering their services remotely and accessibly, with an infrastructure designed to support distributed working and collaboration, it was still an adjustment for many of the eCom team to be permanently based at home.

Managing Director, Wendy Edie was not only concerned about the impact on her team, but also eCom’s client base and set about boosting communications.

Along with offering free online learning resources internally and externally on COVID-19 preparedness themes, Wendy started a weekly blog series called ‘Welcome Words from Wendy’, aiming to convey confidence and trust during the pandemic.

The series documents the many stages of leading during a pandemic, from health and wellbeing, to digital confidence and has also inspired a webinar on how to learn and lead.

During the webinar, which will be held on Wednesday 17th June, 11.00am – 12.00pm, Wendy will discuss how, as we come out of lockdown, the need for strong leadership skills has never been greater. To find out more, please click on the link below.
