29th October 2020

Stagecoach East Scotland has been named Public Transport Operator of the Year at the 2020 virtual Scottish Transport Awards Summit.

Stagecoach East Scotland scooped the main Public Transport Operator of the Year award for the high quality of its operations across Fife, Dundee, Angus and Perthshire and its investment in a range of improvements for customers.

It was the fourth year running that the company had been shortlisted for the award and it was shortlisted in a total of three categories in this year's competition.

Douglas Robertson, Managing Director of Stagecoach East Scotland, said: “It is an honour to be awarded Public Transport Operator of the Year for a second year running and also in 2020, during a pandemic, which notably has had a major impact on the public transport industry.

“This award is testament to our team of incredible individuals who go above and beyond to make Stagecoach East Scotland the company it is. They have all worked tirelessly over the last year, from initiatives to increase passenger numbers to then reducing services during the peak of the pandemic. They have helped key workers get to work each day and kept the local communities of East Scotland moving during one of the biggest challenges we will face in a lifetime.”

“Thank you to all our customers who continue to use our services and we hope to see many familiar faces again very soon.”

Stagecoach Group also received two other awards at the Scottish Transport Awards Summit. Citylink won ‘Best Bus Service’ for service 900 and Robert Andrew won the ‘Lifetime Contribution to Transport in Scotland’, in recognition of his 35 year career in the industry.
