Could you ‘Share an Hour’ and mentor a young person?

MCR carefully matches young people with a mentor to meet in their school for just one hour each week and this one to one relationship makes a profound impact on their confidence. With their mentor's help, they feel supported to focus on their future pathway. No qualifications are needed to become a mentor, just the desire to make a difference.

As well as the life-changing impact on a young person, volunteers also benefit, gaining new skills in active listening, communication and leadership, as shown by the increasing number of organisations who support their staff to volunteer with MCR.

Where can I mentor?

The programme is looking for mentors in schools across Scotland, from Glasgow and Edinburgh, to the Highlands and Shetland. They have also launched their first English schools, in Hertfordshire. You can find the full list on their website and social media.

How to get involved?

If you are interested, simply visit their website to register. Mentors are given full training, followed by additional support through their online Mentor Hub and dedicated Pathways Coordinator in each school. A PVG/DBS check is required and organised by MCR.
