Kingdom Books joins in a national day of tea parties for Guide Dogs to raise life changing funds for the charity!

24th May 2022

Every Spring, Guide Dogs supporters pop the kettle on, hang their puppy bunting, decorate their cupcakes and enjoy a cuppa with friends, neighbours and colleagues to raise funds to support people living with sight loss across the UK.

This year, Kingdom Books is joining the effort by hosting a Tea Party to raise life changing funds for Guide Dogs UK!

The event will see two very special guests making an appearance to talk to everyone about the importance of the work that Guide Dog's do, and one of them has four legs and a very fluffy tail!

Today, Guide Dogs leads the world in breeding and training working dogs, creating unique and carefully matched partnerships that provide life changing support. Guide Dogs is working to give more people with sight loss the confidence and skills they need to live the life they choose.

Tracey Wellingham, Guide Dogs Tea Party spokesperson: “We are so very grateful to all the individuals, groups and organisations who support us by hosting a Tea Party in April. Every day 250 more people join the 2 million already living with sight loss and this number is set to double by 2050. As sight loss increases, our expert staff, volunteers and life-changing dogs will be there to support them. To help us continue this support, please get involved and host your own Tea Party or bake sale. If there’s tea, cake and you are having fun and raising life-changing funds, then anything goes!”

It costs just under £55,000 to support a dog from birth to retirement. The funds raised by East Neuk Books Tea party will support Guide Dogs to help people with sight loss now, and in the future. Every cuppa really does count:

  • £3 could pay for a microchip for one of our new guide dog puppies
  • £8 could support a working guide dog partnership for a day
  • £16 could buy a coat for one of our puppies in training
  • £25 could pay for an hour’s training for a guide dog
  • £50 could buy a Puppy Raising Kit for the volunteers who look after our puppies during their first year
