Volunteers’ Week 2024 – Double celebrations

3rd June 2024

Kirkcaldy Community Radio marks Volunteers’ Week 2024.

2024 marks the 40th year of Volunteers’ Week, when K107FM will join thousands of charities and voluntary organisations recognising the contribution volunteers make across the UK.

As well as a crucial opportunity to thank volunteers and recognise the value of their time, passion and skills, Volunteers’ Week also acts as a chance to inspire others to give volunteering a go.

This Volunteers’ Week is also a chance to highlight a decade of volunteering across the Kirkcaldy area, with K107FM celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and continues to offer volunteering opportunities in a range of roles, from broadcasting to behind the scenes.

A spokesperson for K107FM stating:

“Volunteers’ Week is a chance for us to celebrate and recognise the fantastic contribution our volunteers make, from those who’ve dedicated the last 10 years to the station to our newest members. Thanks to them, we continue to provide a service across Kirkcaldy and surrounding towns. From a recent national study, ‘Listening locally across the UK’*, we can see that the impact of K107FM on the everyday lives of listeners is overwhelmingly positive. There is clear evidence that local community radio is uniquely able to combat social isolation and foster a greater sense of connection to others and to the community than other radio outputs can do. Listeners better understand others in our community as a result, and actively meet new people and get involved in local activities as a result.

We’re also proud to have supported numerous other local voluntary organisations over the past decade with both on-air and social media exposure to promote awareness, engagement, fundraising and volunteer activities”

Volunteer Scotland Chief Executive, Alan Stevenson said:

“Volunteers are the lifeblood of Scottish communities and what better time to recognise the diversity of our volunteers and celebrate the difference that volunteering makes in Scotland and across the UK than the 40th Anniversary of Volunteers’ Week! This year, we’re celebrating in style with a revamped brand and new ways to get involved. It has a fresh look but a consistent message—join us and let's celebrate volunteers and volunteering this Volunteers' Week.”
