Self Assessment customers use online tax payment plans to help spread the cost of £69 million

Almost 25,000 Self Assessment customers have set up an online payment plan to manage their tax liabilities in up to 12 monthly instalments, totalling £69.1 million, HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has revealed today.

£10m boost for Digital Support Grants: available now on first-come, first-served basis

Digital Support Grants are provided by the Scottish Government to help businesses to do more digitally and online.  VAT registered businesses can apply for up to £25000, while non-VAT registered organisations can apply for up to £6000.  The Grant recipient must pay 25% of the cost of the project directly: the remainder comes from the Grant.   The Scottish Government is putting an extra £10m into the programme to fund additional projects: it will be approved and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Scottish Government announces additional grants for closed businesses

Retail, hospitality and leisure businesses that have been ordered to close are to receive additional, one-off grants.  These will be paid in addition to the 4-weekly grants that they already receive via the Strategic Business Framework Fund (SBFF).  Like the SBFF, the one-of grants will be based on the size of the company measured by the rateable value of its business premises.

On Sunday 6th December dozens of Christmas Elves took to the streets of Fife to help spread a little festive cheer, all with the goal of supporting Maggie’s. They walked, ran, hopped, skipped and jumped their way around routes of their choice as part of the charities first ever Virtual Elf Family Fun Run.

CessCom Decom awarded major contract

CessCon Decom are extremely pleased to announce the award of a major contract by Allseas Engineering B.V. for the onshore decommissioning, dismantlement, and recycling of Spirit Energy’s Morecambe Bay DP3 and DP4 facilities in the East Irish Sea. The contract to decommission, decontaminate, dismantle, and recycle the DP3 and DP4 topsides, jackets, and subsea structures involves the processing of over 23,000 tonnes of material at CessCon Decom’s new Energy Park Fife Decommissioning Facility in Fife, Scotland.

Covid-19 vaccine trial team thank volunteers

Researchers leading a trial of a Covid-19 vaccine have thanked the people of Tayside and Fife for their overwhelming response to a call for volunteers.

More than 5,500 people responded to a request for participants by the University of Dundee and NHS Tayside, who are the local co-leads for the second Phase 3 clinical trial of a vaccine candidate.

Jet2 expands Edinburgh offering

Passengers will be able to choose from a total of 32 sunshine destinations with Jet2.com and Jet2holidays after the airline expanded its summer offering from Edinburgh Airport.

Three new Greek routes to Skiathos, Santorini and Preveza have been added for summer 2022, each with a weekly service. Weekly services to Izmir, Naples and Thessaloniki are also on offer.

Training in latest beauty techniques now available at Fife College

Fife College has become one of the first colleges in Scotland to offer students training in the latest skincare techniques as part of its Level 4 Advanced Beauty course.

The new qualification provides training in a variety of the most advanced skin treatments being used in the beauty industry today, and due to their complexity practitioners are not allowed to provide the treatments without a qualification.
