British Touring Cars return to Knockhill on August 8th / 9th to take on 89 racing laps over 4 races!

Scotland's biggest motorsport event to feature two new support championships including Caterham sports cars and Scottish Legends!

The return of the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship on August 8th / 9th to Scotland's National Motorsports Centre will be different to any previous BTCC event as every class will be racing on both days over the weekend. The introduction of the points scoring Qualifying Race for the Touring Cars on the first day of the event means that all five championships will be racing both days giving the thousands of race fans extra value for money at Knockhill.

For the Touring Cars, the weekend kicks off with two practice sessions followed by their unique split qualifying session where half the grid each go out in turn for their laps to determine their starting position for the new Qualifying Race. This new format will really show its benefit around the short twisty lap of Knockhill, giving drivers the best chance on a clearer track to set their fastest lap time. These two sets of times are then combined for the starting grid of the new Qualifying Race over 17 laps of Knockhill. No set-up changes are permitted, so do drivers go for a fast qualifying set up, or do they go for a fast race set-up, further adding to the drama and possibilities within the Saturday race. Add in three 24 lap championship races on Sunday 9th, the Touring Car drivers will be racing a record 89 laps over the four races.

Elsewhere within the 19 race event, two championships are making a welcome return, adding to the regular Porsche Sprint Challenge and Mini Challenge, as the Caterham Seven Championship UK and Scottish Legends complete a quality and varied programme of races. The Caterhams are at Knockhill the following weekend with four championships, but their headline, and fastest championship, the 420R's, are supporting the Touring Cars.

The Scottish Legends have previously supported Knockhill's main event but this time will field a capacity 34 cars! This follows the massive success when the Scottish Legends supported the Touring Cars at Oulton Park at the start of June. 33 cars wooed the crowd and the millions watching on tv as the drivers put on a show unlike anything else that weekend. Stuart Gray, the Knockhill Club Chairman said "I told the drivers how proud I, and the Club, were to be bringing the Scottish Legends to such a big event in England in front of a massive crowd. With a near capacity grid, six races and numerous overtakes, the drivers drove amazingly well and had not one, but several, photo finishes, the closest had Stephen Treherne finishing 0.006s ahead of Daniel Clark. In the final race, Dunfermline rookie driver Angus Scrivener won his first Legends race, crossing the line just 0.038s ahead of Matthew Pape".

The 2026 Kwik Fit British Touring Cars is Scotland's largest motorsport event with teams arriving for a week of testing ahead of the main event on the 8th and 9th of August. Stuart Gray continued, "This event huge for Knockhill, for the Fife economy and for Scotland as coverage goes around the world. With our own Scottish Legends featuring with a capacity 34 grid and six races over the weekend, the Touring Cars event this year will be truly memorable and spectacular".
