Bus link to Scotland’s Secret Bunker is back for the summer
Service 93 will provide bus links directly to the entrance of the popular tourist attraction, running from Leven, the East Neuk, and Anstruther to the Secret Bunker, or from St Andrews via Craigtoun Craigtoun Park in the other direction.
The Fife bus service, will allow people to discover the twilight world of the Government Cold War at the Secret Bunker. Located near Anstruther, the Bunker lies 100ft below ground and is encased in 15ft of reinforced concrete.
The route will run on Mondays to Saturdays from Monday 1 July to Saturday 17 August 2019, allowing handy return journeys to the site from the East Neuk, maximising visit time at the Bunker, as well as providing new bus links to Craigtoun Park for a great family day out.
Customers can connect to service 93 at St Andrews or Leven bus station using the popular Express City Connect network of luxury coaches, or using routes 7 or 95, which run along the scenic Fife coast.
Douglas Robertson, Managing Director, Stagecoach East Scotland said: "The dedicated bus to the Secret Bunker was introduced last year and was popular with Fife residents and visitors alike. Changes to the route this year will see it also stop at Craigtoun Park, outside St Andrews, providing even more great places to visit with the family this summer.”
Kirsty Weir, Marketing Manager, Scotland's Secret Bunker said: “Scotland's Secret Bunker is one of the Kingdom of Fife's most visited attractions and we are delighted to be celebrating 25 years open to the public this year. Come and see for yourself why the East Neuk of Fife played host to an important location of defence and government operations throughout the Cold War period and Scotland's Secret Bunker is still operated today as a fully functioning underground museum.
“We are delighted to work together again with Stagecoach on this joint initiative, allowing visitors to the area who do not have their own transport or would just like the enjoyment of travelling by bus to explore all that Scotland's Secret Bunker has to offer, whilst sitting back, relaxing and taking in all the beautiful scenery of the wonderful East Neuk of Fife and it's beautiful coastal villages just outside of St Andrews.
Stagecoach have confirmed that single fares and dayrider tickets can be purchased from the driver or dayrider tickets can be purchased on the Stagecoach Bus app. For unlimited travel all day around St Andrews and as far as the Secret Bunker, a North East Fife dayrider ticket provides the best value for just £8.20 for an adult, or £16.40 for the family.
