Carrick Management awarded Platinum Resource Efficiency Pledge by Zero Waste Scotland
Carrick Management is pleased to have reached Platinum in their Resource Efficiency Pledge, accredited by Zero Waste Scotland. The Pledge demonstrates a commitment to using Scotland’s resources - such as water, energy and raw materials - efficiently. The nationwide Pledge is a scheme backed by Scottish Government to help Scottish businesses use energy, water and raw materials more efficiently throughout their operations. Providing access to free technical support and branded marketing materials, businesses gain the assistance it needs to implement changes and promote its commitment to the environment and the economy.
Platinum, the highest of the Pledge’s four levels, has only been achieved by a few organisations in Scotland. Carrick Management are proud to be one of these few, having received the award following a number of commitments to the environment within the organisation. From organising litter picks to better their local environment to implementing an environmental policy, Carrick Management look forward to maintaining these commitments in their operations moving forward.
Development Director, Nicola Brown, commented: “I am thrilled that we have had the consistent enthusiasm and momentum throughout our organisation to implement the changes identified by the Resource Efficiency Pledge to allow us to achieve the top award. Although this is the end of the formal stages of the Resource Efficiency Pledge, it is not the end of the journey for Carrick Management. We are committed to investigating, changing and innovating in all that we do to ensure we minimise the resources we consume. We will continue to actively promote and encourage other organisations to engage and take action to make positive changes to prevent irreversible damage from climate change. With COP26 around the corner, and being the host nation, we believe that this will provide an increased focus and encouragement for organisations to engage, collaborate and revolutionise their practices to benefit the world. We encourage businesses to seek support and guidance from others so they can learn lessons, gain access to resources and advice particularly from agencies such as Zero Waste Scotland.”
Zero Waste Scotland has helped over 4,000 businesses implement environmental strategies and projects, to both save businesses money and lower their carbon footprint. Support from the organisation allows businesses to access resources to make changes to their operations that would have been significantly more difficult to achieve alone.
Tom Flatman from Zero Waste Scotland said: “Congratulations to Carrick Management for being awarded Platinum for the Resource Efficiency Pledge! Nicola and her team have been proactive in reducing their resource use, sharing their experiences with other organisations and litter picking around Dundee – to name a few of their activities. Well done!”
