Fife businesses to benefit from second tranche of funding support for innovative degree programme
FIFE COLLEGE University Hub in Dunfermline will host a second tranche of the innovative top-up enterprise degree programme in January 2020. The BA Business and Enterprise allows local business owners to be more resilient and grow by applying innovative and creative ideas that employee participants develop in work-based learning modules that are based on real scenarios.
The improved capability that businesses and business owners can gain has been recognised as an important element of local business sustainability and competitiveness in the region. As a result, eligible businesses - Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) based in Fife - can benefit from 50% funding contribution being paid through business support from the Fife Economic Development Services.
Pamela Stevenson, Enterprise and Business Development Manager at Fife Council Economic Development said: “This locally delivered degree programme provides a fantastic opportunity to enhance any organisation’s capability, even while participants are still studying. It has proven to be an excellent way for businesses to upskill their workforce and develop their future management team needs.”
The year-long top-up programme, which is run by Edinburgh Napier University, is available for those in work (employed or self-employed) who have relevant work experience and an HND or a SCQF level 8 equivalent qualification.
Using practical work-based content, the programme develops business, management and enterprise skills and leads to the award of a BA degree. This Programme involves a combination of assessments, workshops and independent study, with attendance one-day per month at the Fife College University Hub in Dunfermline. Assessments are practical and applied, including reports around work roles, work-place based assignments, presentations and case studies. Iain Hawker, Assistant Principal at Fife College said: “Local businesses have the chance to make a real difference to their performance, with a minimum of disruption to work routines.”
