Gilson Gray takes over Dundee firm Baillie Shepherd
Gilson Gray, one of Scotland’s most prominent law firms, has taken over fellow Dundee legal firm Baillie Shepherd as it pursues further growth in the city.
The deal, which was mutually agreed, will see all Baillie Shepherd employees join the Gilson Gray team in Dundee, including directors Alan Baillie and Peter Shepherd along with well-known court solicitor Ken Glass.
Lindsay Darroch, Partner and Head of Gilson Gray’s Dundee office, said: “Baillie Shepherd is a well-established and respected firm in Dundee, with key strengths in private client, property and court work. I have known Alan for a number of years and knew that we had much common ground in the way we do business and most importantly, how we look after clients.
“Dundee is thriving, with a host of commercial developments and initiatives in the pipeline. We have seen tremendous growth in the last 12 months and this latest deal strengthens our position as one of the leading full service firms in the area. It will enable us to further capitalise on the opportunities that this vibrant city offers.”
Alan Baillie, director, added: “This is an excellent move and a great fit. The deal brings a number of advantages and our clients will benefit from the full suite of legal services at Gilson Gray. I am delighted that myself and my team, all of whom have transferred over to become Gilson Gray employees, are able to join such a pro-active, client-focused firm.”
Gilson Gray is an award-winning full service law firm with offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow and North Berwick as well as Dundee.
