Scholarship boost for graphic designer Abigail

Fife College student Abigail Hezseltine’s graphic design business has been given a boost after she was awarded a special scholarship.

Creative Enterprise degree student Abigail was awarded the Fresh Ideas Scholarship from the College’s scholarship programme, the Adam Smith Foundation.

Open to students who have a business idea that they are looking to take beyond the concept stage, the scholarship supports students to get their ideas off the ground.

Abigail, who previously completed an HNC and HND in Visual Communications courses at the College, will use her £500 scholarship award to grow her new freelance graphic design business, Creative Juice Graphics.

Abigail, from Glenrothes, said:

“Winning the scholarship was a massive surprise and I am very excited at the opportunity this has given me.

“The scholarship will allow me to purchase materials needed for my business and help towards the start-up cost of setting everything up. I am really grateful for this and feel really encouraged that others see value in what I am in the process of creating.”

Abigail also plans to go on and complete her Hons year of the Creative Enterprise degree, which is delivered by the College in partnership Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh.

An innovative degree programme, the BA (Hons) Creative Enterprise degree equips students with the practical skills and expertise they need to transform their creative passion and talent into a sustainable freelance career.
