Sponsorship Experience at Scottish Baker of the Year Awards is a "Sweet Treat" for CFW.CO.UK

As a trusted name in the Scottish professional bakery sector, CFW.co.uk, the distribution division of foodservice brand Sephra, has revealed that, for the very first time, it was the 2026 sponsor of the highly competitive “sweet treat” category at the recent Scottish Baker of the Year Awards 2026, held at Glasgow’s Hilton Hotel.

Offering all types of consumable products, including its signature chocolate ranges, bakery mixes, sauces, and an assortment of confectionery including marshmallows, fudge, and honeycomb, CFW.co.uk is a one stop shop in the industry, distributing over 1,200 products.

“We decided to dip our toe in the water regarding sponsorship at these prestigious Scottish Baker of the Year Awards, and we're so glad we did,” said John Laughlin, Operations Director at CFW. “We had a fantastic night, finding the whole event to be a really worthwhile networking opportunity. Given that our customers know us through our distribution of leading names such as Lotus, Nutella, Vanova, Gold Medal & Cadbury, to name but a few, we decided that the “Sweet Treat” category, covering all types of muffins, cupcakes, traybakes and small cakes, was the most fitting for us to sponsor.”

“Dawn Foods, who are another brand that we supply, were also themselves, sponsors of another category,” added John.

He went on to say: “On behalf of everyone at CFW.co.uk, we would like to extend our congratulations to the Hinba Bakery in Glasgow, who won with their delicious Hinba Chocolate Olive Oil Cake.”

He also remarked that what he, and his colleagues who attended the awards ceremony, were particularly impressed with, was that Regional Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards were also given out in every category, along with an overall winner, recognising the huge effort and time commitment that goes into entering.

“We'd like to say a huge well done to everybody who was recognised in the Sweet Treat category,” he said. “We saw a great deal of innovation and variety, everything from Rolo Cakes, Biscoff Fancies, loaded cookies, and Raspberry Melbas, to a Dark Chocolate Cherry French Macaron. Something in particular that caught our eye was a Toffee Popcorn Cupcake. Our parent company, Sephra, has its own B2C popcorn division, Sephra Popcorn, which is widely stocked in leading Scottish Supermarkets. We’d be open to a collaboration with a bakery firm if they wanted to use our quality wet popped popcorn as an ingredient in a new creation. Who knows where it could lead?”

John finished by saying: “Sephra and CFW like to engage directly with customers, so it was a highly beneficial experience to have sponsor visibility at these awards. We also brought some of our customers with us, and they too very much enjoyed the evening.”
