VELUX Hires Rising Star to Set Up New UK Public Affairs Team
Leading roof window manufacturer VELUX® has today (20 September) announced the appointment of Lewis Rogers as its first UK & Ireland public affairs advisor.
A highly experienced public affairs professional with over seven years’ experience in government affairs and corporate communications, Lewis will be responsible for strengthening VELUX’s engagement with various national institutions and the broader stakeholder community.
Joining the company as Public Affairs Manager, Lewis will also take responsibility for monitoring all national and devolved legislation of importance to the VELUX Group, including the UK’s exit from the European Union.
Lewis brings extensive government affairs, corporate communications and CSR experience to the role having joined from William Hill, one of the UK’s largest betting companies, where he spent six years working in public affairs and corporate social responsibility.
Based between London and the company’s UK headquarters in Glenrothes, Fife, Lewis will report into Andrew Lumsden, Senior Marketing Manager.
Andrew Lumsden said: “At VELUX we are looking to be more involved in a national dialogue around new building standards. With a legislative drive towards creating healthier and more energy efficient homes, Lewis will help to ensure that VELUX is part of these discussions, promoting the benefits of natural daylight and ventilation in the development of healthier homes.
“Brexit raises a number of issues for all businesses, and VELUX is no different. Lewis will help to raise our level of understanding across multiple Brexit-related issues including investor confidence, any barriers to trade, regulation and skills.
“Lewis will be a great asset to the company and we’re all very much looking forward to working with him.”
Commenting on his new role, Lewis said: “I am really looking forward to getting started in this role. National and devolved legislation is of increasing importance to the VELUX Group, especially when it comes to health and environmental issues related to the building industry. As a brand with such a strong reputation, VELUX has a great opportunity to strengthen its position at the UK and devolved policy level and build better relationships with various national institutions and the broader stakeholder community.”
