Cross-Government Approach at Heart of New Drive to Boost Exports

A new whole-of-government approach to boosting British exports delivered through a transformed, UK Trade and Investment (UKTI), focused on priority markets and sectors, has been announced today by Trade Minister Lord Maude.

UKTI will be at the centre of this new approach, overseeing and co-ordinating export performance on behalf of the Cross-Government Exports Implementation Taskforce, led by Business Secretary Sajid Javid.

Fife College Takes Lead to Promote BIM to Scotland’s Colleges

Scotland’s construction industry could soon benefit from key work being carried out by Scotland’s Colleges led by Fife College in conjunction with the Energy Skills Partnership.

A special event was held at the College’s Carnegie Conference Centre in Dunfermline this week (Monday July 25) to promote Building Information Modelling (BIM) - a way of sharing information digitally about a building between different construction professionals which results in cost-savings, energy efficiencies and a more effective way of working.

Impact of Forth Road Bridge closure on Fife businesses

The Carnegie UK Trust are asking businesses based in Fife to help evaluate the impact of the Forth Road Bridge closure (3-23 December 2015) on them as both traders and employers. This research project will also map the impact of the closure on how residents worked, consumed goods and services, travelled and pursued leisure activities during this period. The Trust is working in partnership with other organisations researching travel and logistics during the disruption, and will contribute to the overall analysis of the impact of the emergency closure in Spring 2016.

Second home tax could spark Fife rush to buy

A hike in the tax payable on second property purchases could spark a rush to buy in the popular East Neuk of Fife.

The area has long attracted those seeking a holiday home or property to let, lured by the beautiful beaches, tranquil atmosphere and pretty seaside villages.

Two days left for Fife Business Awards applications!

As a consequence of the recent closure of the Forth Road Bridge, and its impact on many businesses, Fife Chamber recently extended the deadline for entries to the Fife Business Awards.

Businesses have until 12 noon this Friday 8 January, 2016 to submit their applications.

Businesses of all sizes and from any sector ranging from manufacturing to retail, agriculture or professional services are being encouraged to submit their applications as soon as possible.
