Can your manufacturing business use support provided by SMAS?
The manufacturing sector, despite its continual evolution, remains a vital component of Scotland's economy. To help clients navigate these changes, the EQ Engineering & Manufacturing team offers a range of specialised services and guidance, from business strategy and corporate finance to audit and tax advice
Their team has forged relationships with various entities in different professions including the Scottish Manufacturing Advisory Service (SMAS), a specialist group within Scottish Enterprise. SMAS provides small-to-medium manufacturers with support and advice on process improvement techniques, best practices, and the introduction of new manufacturing technologies.
Businesses facing challenges can begin by submitting their details and specific issues to the Scottish Manufacturing Advisory Service (SMAS) via an enquiry form or call. The SMAS team will review this information and determine the appropriate support route.
SMAS representatives will then conduct on-site "health checks," performing diagnostic reviews of the business before compiling a report with recommendations. These initial stages are funded by Scottish Enterprise and are free of charge.
If SMAS can offer further assistance, they will continue based on the initial report. They provide services in operational excellence, supply chain development, leadership and culture, and Industry 4.0 Reporting. While there is a consulting fee for these projects, Scottish Enterprise funds can cover half the cost for SMEs.
Should a referral be more suitable for the business's needs, SMAS will arrange introductions to other departments within Scottish Enterprise, public support agencies, universities, or private companies.
