CEO Update - Putting Growth First Across the Network

Firstly, thank you once again to all our members for your continued engagement across our events and networks. Your involvement is central to how we represent and champion business across Fife.

Scotland's Economic Direction

Since our last newsletter, we have a new UK Prime Minister and, as part of the British Chambers of Commerce Network, we have made our views clear on what is needed to help drive economic growth. We hope to see some meaningful changes over the coming months, although the most significant developments are likely to emerge through the Autumn Budget.

In this environment, it is essential that economic growth remains at the centre of policymaking, supported by measures that encourage competitiveness, investment and business confidence.

The message I hear from businesses every day is clear: growth must continue to be the top priority.

While it is important that public finances are managed responsibly, increasing the cost of doing business risks undermining the competitiveness of both Scotland and the wider UK.

Business Priorities

Our members are clear about what is needed to support a strong and sustainable economy:

  • A competitive and stable tax environment, with a sustained focus on economic growth and productivity
  • Investment in skills and workforce development
  • Improved infrastructure and connectivity
  • Greater support for innovation and business growth

These priorities must underpin future policy if Scotland is to remain competitive. We continue to work closely with the Scottish Chambers of Commerce to ensure these messages are heard clearly by policymakers and decision-makers. We have also arranged a roundtable discussion with our local MPs and MSPs to discuss these issues directly and ensure that the voice of business is represented.

Supporting Growth

While the summer period is traditionally quieter, we continue to engage with partners, policymakers and businesses across Fife. Maintaining momentum on the key issues affecting our members remains a priority, and we will continue to champion the support and conditions required for businesses to invest, grow and succeed.

Looking Ahead

As the new UK Government continues to set its direction, there is a clear opportunity to place growth, competitiveness and investment at the heart of the UK's economic agenda. We will continue to engage wherever possible to represent your voice, champion your interests and help create the conditions that enable businesses to succeed.

Although Parliament is currently in recess for the summer, our advocacy work continues, and we will take every opportunity to ensure that business priorities remain firmly on the agenda.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support.

Events – Summer Social

It was a delight to see so many members and guests at our Summer Social last week at Pratis Barns. Events such as these provide a valuable opportunity to strengthen relationships, share experiences and discuss the opportunities and challenges facing businesses across our network. Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to another successful event.
