Champions of Scottish Racing Trophies Awarded at Knockhill
Champions of Scottish Racing Trophies awarded at Knockhill
Two of Scotland's most prestigious trophies were awarded at last weekend's Day of Champions event at Knockhill.
The 20th awarding of the David Leslie Trophy was given to the best performing Scottish Classic Saloon or Sports Car and Perth based Fiat X1/9 driver Alastair Baptie won with his class winning drive. Alastair is pictured here with Circuit Managing Director Jillian Shedden.
The inaugural presenting of the Doug Niven Trophy was awarded to David Morrison who raced his MG Midget. Doug, cousin of the late, great Jim Clark and himself, one of Scotland's best ModSports racers, handed the trophy to David who was delighted and held it aloft.
Stuart Gray, Knockhill Director of Events said, "We have been remembering David Leslie now for 20 years since his tragic death in a light aircraft crash. Turn two at Knockhill is named Leslie's and the David Leslie Trophy is by far, the trophy everyone wants to win in Scotland. Also, to have Doug Niven here on Sunday to present the award bearing his name was special as Doug has been a pillar of Scottish racing for decades. We had over 50 passed champions attend the event, something that we aim to continue in years to come as each and every one of them has helped shape what Knockhill has become today".
