Fife Business Awards set for major revamp as past winners challenged to mentor further success in Fife
Fife Chamber of Commerce has announced a major revamp of the Fife Business Awards is planned. The announcement was made at a special lunch where previous award winners were brought together by the Chamber to celebrate their successes.
Representatives from the 2017 and 2018 awards category winners were joined by the 2018 awards category sponsors as invited guests of the Chamber at the inaugural Champions Lunch, with the business representation group challenging those present to work with it to support and develop the awards, and use their own successes to mentor and encourage other businesses and business people to do the same.
Over 40 guests attended the event at Balbirnie House Hotel, where Fife Chamber Chief Executive Alan Mitchell called on all those involved to get behind the Chamber by promoting the Awards across Fife. He said:
“Winning a Fife Business Award demonstrates an individual company or person’s exceptional commitment and dedication to business success, but the legacy shouldn’t end there. We’re looking to all our winners and sponsors, past and present, to take on the challenge of bringing their own excitement and enthusiasm for developing success in Fife to every other business in the region.
“Fife Chamber is committed to evolving the Awards and making the whole experience as accessible and relevant is possible – there are businesses in Fife doing remarkable things on a daily basis, with a passion and pride for their work which deserve recognition – and we want them to embrace the Fife Business Awards so we can shout about them.
“The Awards only exist thanks to the ongoing support of our fantastic sponsors and the determination of Fife businesses to take part – everyone who has won an award or supported the process has responsibility to join the Chamber in making the Awards bigger and better than ever before.
“We will review every aspect of the awards, from the categories to the application and judging process to the format of the awards ceremony. We will take all the time we need to review how other business awards are set up and we’ll make sure that we get feedback and input from our partners so we make the right decisions, but when next year’s Awards are officially launched in August 2018, changes will be evident.”
The Champions Lunch has been sponsored by CCW Business Lawyers and Donna Reynolds, Employment Partner at the firm, said: “We are delighted that we have been able to work with Alan and his team to bring the Champions Lunch to fruition. There are lots of fantastic businesses in Fife – we know because we work with many of them – and we want them to have a chance to get recognition for the great work they do for their customers and the contribution they make to their local communities.”
2017 Success through Sustainability award winner and 2018 Success through Sustainability award category sponsor
Kettle Finance Director Liz Waugh said: “We entered the Success through Sustainability award in 2017 in the hope of further promoting our business locally and enhancing staff morale. We were exceptionally proud to win the award, receiving local recognition and there has been a great buzz within the business.
“On the back of our win, we decided to sponsor the same award category in 2018, as an opportunity to promote our positive experience and to recognise and support other businesses in Fife who are passionate about developing sustainable processes.”

Fife Chamber Premier Partner and 2018 Excellence in Food and Drink award category sponsor
General Manager Stuart Douglas said: “As a Premier Partner, we see it as a key responsibility to support and promote the Fife Business Awards and we were very proud to sponsor the Excellence in Food and Drink category in 2018.
“The Tourism sector in Fife is a diverse and thriving industry, with many fantastic businesses working tirelessly to make Fife a major food and drink destination, and I’d encourage everyone to consider entering the awards so that we can all celebrate the fantastic work that goes on in the region.”
