This revaluation will set new Rateable Values (RVs) for all non‑domestic properties across Scotland and is anticipated to have a significant impact on business costs and future planning.

Fife businesses consistently tell the Chamber that the current non‑domestic rates system remains one of the most significant pressures they face. The new survey - prepared by Scottish Chambers of Commerce (SCC) and tailored for use by local chambers - aims to capture timely, evidence‑based insights on the real challenges organisations are experiencing.

A Call for Businesses to Have Their Say

The Chamber is encouraging all local businesses, including SMEs, large employers, property owners, tenants, and sectors heavily affected by business rates such as retail, hospitality, and manufacturing, to take part.

Results will feed into national advocacy work led by SCC, ensuring the voice of Fife’s business community is strongly represented in discussions with the Scottish Government and key policymakers.

Why This Matters

The survey will help identify:

  • The anticipated impact of the 2026 revaluation on business costs and operations
  • How changes in RVs may affect investment, growth, and overall viability
  • Ongoing challenges within the current non‑domestic rates system
  • Priority areas for reform or government support

These insights will strengthen the Chamber’s role as a champion of business, ensuring members’ concerns are heard clearly at local and national level - supporting the organisation’s mission to connect, support and advocate for Fife’s business community.

Stephen Percy-Robb, Fife Chamber of Commerce, said:

“Business rates remain one of the biggest concerns facing our members. With the 2026 revaluation approaching, it is vital that policymakers understand the real impact on the ground. This survey is a practical but powerful way for businesses to influence the debate. Every response strengthens our voice.”
