Fife Chamber’s President Welcomes the 150th Open

12th July 2022

162 years, and 149 Opens later, the Home of Golf welcomes the 150th Open Championship!

Fife Chamber’s President, Colin Brown, has taken the time to share a few words with the membership and beyond to mark this truly special milestone:

“The staging of the 150th Open Golf Championship at the Home of Golf gives our members and businesses the opportunity to showcase the best of the Kingdom. With the weather set fair, if a little breezy, it's time to once again welcome back the international visitors which Covid-19 has deprived us off since 2019.

If you are visiting Fife as a participant or spectator, can I encourage you to sample some of the wonderful Fife hospitality and attractions which our businesses are renowned for. In the last couple of days, I have heard tales of Fifers helping visitors whose car had broken down, encouraging them to sample some fine Fife produce ahead of checking in to their accommodation, and in my case dropping off an American visitor I had struck up a conversation with at his hotel as it was on my way home!

We are blessed in Fife Chamber to have both the The R&A and St Andrews Links Trust as members. Whilst these members will rightly be the focus of attention there are many other Fife Chamber members and businesses who will be using the week to showcase their products and services.

Therefore, I would like to wish everyone associated with the Open Championship every success for a fantastic week. Furthermore, I look forward to being at the Old Course to see some of the action first hand!”
