Fife College Wins Awards at CDN College Awards
Fife College is delighted to have won a gold award and a Highly Commended at the prestigious College Development Network (CDN) College Awards.
The College’s Faculty of Engineering were up against various Scottish colleges such as Inverness College UHI and West College Scotland for the Digital Education Award, which was sponsored by Jisc, a not-for-profit who provide digital solutions for further and higher education institutions and also for the Developing a Regional Curriculum Award which was sponsored by the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF).
Winning the Digital Education Award marked the culmination of months of hard work for Fife College’s Faculty of Engineering, who recently launched their state-of-the-art, ‘Immersive Hybrid Reality’ lab at the College’s campus in Rosyth. The lab was designed to enhance the training and development of the next generation of offshore wind turbine technicians by combining the real and virtual world and introducing them to a realistic working environment to prepare them for employment.
Director: Faculty of Engineering, Energy and Mathematics at Fife College, Nicky Inglis was delighted with the award win. Said Nicky: “It is truly fantastic to have won this award and to have both our departments and our partners’ hard work recognised throughout the sector. This project has enabled us to enhance our standard of teaching and training to ensure our students develop the skills required to meet the needs of the industry, increase their employment opportunities and support the economic needs of the region.”
The glamorous award ceremony, which hosted over 200 guests, was held at the Glasgow Hilton Hotel on Thursday 23 November 2017. The annual event aims to recognise and celebrate the skills and achievements of colleges from across the country as well as showcase the innovation that exists within the sector.
