HS2 Ltd’s Rolling Stock Industry Day – 27th March 2017, London

Two weeks ago HS2 Ltd issued a Periodic Indicative Notice (PIN), for the procurement of the HS2 Rolling Stock Manufacture and Maintenance Services. The PIN also invites interested suppliers of all tiers to register their interest for an industry event, to be held on 27^th March. We are keen to ensure that businesses interested in bidding for opportunities under this contract register to attend the event which will provide an overview of requirements for suppliers of the HS2 programme, as well as opportunities to network with other businesses including potential Tier 1 manufacturers.

The rolling stock procurement will secure Britain’s first ever high-speed trains capable of transporting passengers at speeds of up to 225mph on the new HS2 route, initially between London and Birmingham. The trains, which will enter service from 2026, will also continue onto the conventional rail network to serve cities such as Manchester, Liverpool and Glasgow. Providing a world-class passenger experience is at the heart of the requirements for companies interested in bidding for the £2.75bn contract.

We are keen to attract interested suppliers from both rail and non-rail backgrounds. The opportunities which may flow from this procurement are widespread and, as well as rolling stock-specific requirements, may include:-

• Systems & IT (e.g. Passenger information systems, entertainment, telecoms systems, CCTV)
• Interior design & ergonomics
• Interior fit-out (e.g. flooring, seats, panels, toilets, racks)
• Electronics (e.g. lighting)
• Catering equipment
• Cable, wiring or hydraulics
