Invitation to Transport Scotland’s Rail Infrastructure Strategy Consultation Workshops
In November 2016, Transport Scotland launched an online public consultation on the future rail infrastructure strategy. This consultation reaffirms the Scottish Government’s vision for rail, considers the challenges and opportunities we are facing and makes a number of proposals that we believe can help maximise investment to support predicted demand in growth, while delivering services that customers can depend on. The results from this consultation will help to inform the Scottish Ministers’ High Level Output Specification (HLOS) for Control Period 6 (April 2019 to March 2014), which is due to be submitted to the Office of Rail and Road (ORR), by June 2017.
The consultation can be found on the Scottish Government’s Citizen Space website at: https://consult.scotland.gov.uk/rail-policy/rail-infrastructure-strategy-from-2019. The closing date for responses is Friday 24th February 2017.
This consultation is a real opportunity for interested parties to help shape our future approach to the prioritisation, specification and funding of key rail industry outputs and targets, including core performance measures, as well as the general approach taken to determine future rail infrastructure investment priorities.
As part of our engagement, we’ve been holding a number of workshops around the country to give people the opportunity to engage in discussion with other interested parties and Transport Scotland officials. So far we’ve met with stakeholders in Dingwall, Dumfries, Dundee, Fort William, Glasgow and South Queensferry.
It’s been brought to my attention that a number of people were unable to attend our original workshops, so 3 more workshops have now been added to the calendar:
