Kickstart at The HR Booth
Ailsa Gollan has joined The HR Booth as HR and Marketing Assistant and was identified via the government’s Kickstart Scheme.
Her role is to provide administrative support to the HR team, including letter witing for various HR issues such as absence, disciplinary, and performance. In addition, she will be supporting some recruitment activities for clients including job adverts, organising interviews, and keeping in touch with candidates. Within Marketing she focuses on maintaining their website and social media presence, as well as creating content for these platforms.
Ailsa joined through the government’s Kickstart Scheme but will also be helping to support the HR Booth’s Kickstart Gateway programme. This is her first professional role since graduating from the University of Strathclyde last year a joint BA in Economics and Human Resource Management with First Class Honours. She is keen to develop a career within HR, so is looking forward to developing on her academic knowledge with some real-world HR experience.
Ailsa said: “My first week has been fast and very enjoyable. I’m still finding my feet but there’s been so much information and loads of tasks to get involved in, so it’s absolutely flown by!
Working in a small team like this isn’t something I’ve experienced before and I’m really enjoying it! You really feel like part of a team and everyone is so welcoming.”
Alistair Booth, Managing Director, commented: “We’re absolutely delighted to have Ailsa in our team. She has made a positive impact already and we’re all looking forward to supporting her over the coming months. As an approved Kickstart Gateway helping other employers, I felt it was important we also considered hiring someone through this initiative. I am thrilled we have managed to appoint someone of Ailsa’s quality, and we decided to offer her full-time hours although the Kickstart Scheme pays for 25 hours per week. Ailsa has settled in really well, she has a positive attitude and is keen to learn, and we have lots of projects we can get her involved with.
I would urge other employers to seriously consider the Kickstart Scheme as there are some great candidates out there. Welcome to the team Ailsa!”
