Open Days at Fife College – Pathway to a Dream Career!
Fife College is holding a series of Open Days beginning next week at Campuses throughout Fife to help those interested in coming to College take the next step.
The Open Days are ideal for those who have a career in mind or who are not sure what to do next. Each event will give visitors the perfect opportunity to have a look round the fantastic facilities and get a real feel for the College and what’s on offer.
From Childcare and Computing to Performing Arts and Engineering, there are a wide range of subjects to choose from at various levels.
Staff will be on hand to answer any questions and provide assistance with applying for courses on the night. Information on careers, funding and support will also be available.
Design student Stephanie Taylor, 26 from Kirkcaldy, is a great example of how Fife College can help put you on the pathway to your dream career! Stephanie started Fife College four years ago to study NC Design – she enjoyed it so much she progressed on to the HNC/HND and then the BA Visual Communication Degree course, something she never thought she would be able to achieve.
After leaving school, Stephanie joined the Royal Air Force (RAF) where she was a Mechanical Transport Driver. After being injured while training Stephanie left the RAF and had a variety of low paid jobs. After some careers advice she decided to come to College to study design, a subject she loved while at school.
Said Stephanie: “I’ve really enjoyed my time at College and the future looks promising. I’ve particularly enjoyed this year and had lots of opportunities to improve my design and business skills. I am part of a College agency ‘Lumen’ with fellow design students where we work on real life projects.
“I am currently working in the College’s Marketing Team one day per week on a design internship which is giving me the experience I need to progress my skills and knowledge.
“Next month we also get the chance to attend Edinburgh Art College to work on a collaborative project with the Masters Students and I’m really looking forward to that.
“Long term I hope to work for an in-house marketing or design team and perhaps one day run my own design agency.”
Fife College Open Days take place next week at the College’s campuses in Glenrothes, Kirkcaldy, Levenmouth, Dunfermline and Rosyth on the following dates, 3.30 – 8pm: Halbeath Campus, Dunfermline, 23 January; Stenton Campus, Glenrothes, 24 January; St Brycedale Campus, Kirkcaldy, 25 January; Rosyth Campus, 30 January; Levenmouth Campus, 1 February
