seescape opening its doors to Fife residents

seescape is hosting a festive-themed Open Day on 29 November, enabling visitors to get together for a cuppa, cake and chat, as well as learning more about how the charity can benefit those with a sight impairment.

Each year, seescape helps over 4,000 people in Fife and aims to make their lives more fulfilled by empowering them to live and interact with their families, their communities and surroundings in a positive way.

It does this by giving people access to support services, new technology, social groups and befriending; and an Optician, which operates as a social enterprise.

At the Open Day, from 10am – 12.30pm at its base in Kirkcaldy’s Wilson Avenue, employees across all of seescape’s services will be on hand to give insight and advice to visitors.

Carl Hodson, Chief Executive, said:

“In the run up to Christmas things get hectic and people are time poor making it difficult to combine catching up with friends and fitting in appointments aimed at their sight needs, which is why we have decided to combine to two.

“It’s a free, drop-in session and seescape employees will be available for anyone to talk to, whether they require a routine an eye test, if they have just been diagnosed with a visual impairment, or have lived with one for many years.

“Technology is continuously evolving and it can help enrich people’s lives allowing them to remain living independently at home and be part of the community spirit.”

He added: “The festive season can also be a lonely time for some people. The Open Day will also give Fife residents the opportunity to get out the house and sit and have a chat over a cup of tea and cake.”

There will also be a tombola and prize draw.
